The 'borrowed footage' from ANH spliced into the cockpit footage of the X-Wings, I thought, was terrible. I think we'll be saying this about Moff Tarkin and Leia as well in a decade. Has anyone else gone back and looked at Jeff Bridges's CGI face in Tron: Legacy? It really hasn't aged well.
So it was hard to suspend my disbelief when they popped up. While the CGI faces are maybe the best CGI faces we've seen of any movies to date, they still just looked like CGI faces, not actual human faces. And I'm still wondering how they got on the Tantive IV so quickly). The R2 and 3PO scene was 'meh' for me (at least it made sense for them to be hanging around the rebels, though. I found it disruptive to the overall movement of the story. I feel like Gareth Edwards MAYBE just a TINY little bit, let his inner fanboy govern this movie, and it manifests in the form of a few extreme incidents of gratuitous, arguably unnecessary fan service. I know Disney loves to throw its chuckles and quips into the Marvel franchise, and I feel like this is a taste of things to come for Star Wars, which makes me a little nervous. I like K-2SO but I felt they made him a little too class clown'ish. Overall, I enjoyed the story, and thought they did a good job of creating this retroactive chronology (if that's a phrase) and its elegant segue into the OT. Does anyone know whether those Star Destroyer shots were CGI or miniatures (obviously CGI for the gigantic explosions near the end, but the static shots of the star destroyers really had a 'miniature' look to it). I'm not sure what they did to pull it off, but I really loved how they matched the contrast of the ships against the dark of space (or planet surfaces). They were well played, and I found myself giving a shit about them pretty frequently. For the most part, I really liked these new characters. Though, it may have been the grimiest, most lived-in-looking portrayal of the Star Wars universe, to date. I felt that was a huge mistake of the prequel trilogy. Seeing how primitive all the graphical interfaces were on computers and targeting and such really helped to cement its existence in the same universe as the OT.
I loved the attention to detail in the sets and props and costumes. That, in my opinion, is how proper fan service is done. I love how they used Ralph's concept art for Vader's lair. Arguably the most villainous version of the character to date.I really liked it. Darth Vader was completely sinister in this one. I was pleasantly surprised they opened with "A Long Time Ago." and I liked the urgent intro.
Don't forget to sort by /new if you want the most up to date info. So for the sake of the sub let's try and consolidate the above in this thread. The cliff notes version is everybody should be able to find those items easily enough so you don't need links and we don't feel like playing whack-a-mole deleting any comments talking about cams. I've spoken at length before about this subs rules regarding leaked films and direct links. Also, we are getting tons of "request" submissions asking for people to upload specific scenes they want to re-watch.

We do not allow direct links to entire films, so all of the torrents and mega download links are being removed. We have been allowing clips so far but they typically get removed by Disney within 24 hours so we just have a bunch of dead links in the sub now. So now that the film has been out in the wild for a couple of days there are numerous clips and downloads available on the internet.
